19th July in Dalit History – Dr. Ambedkar took oath as the member of Bombay Legislative Council. Ambedkar was elected as Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) to the Bombay Provincial Legislative Assembly from Bombay in the elections with a thundering majority as a candidate of his Independent Labour Party.

Ambedkar oversaw the transformation of his political party into the All India Scheduled Castes Federation, although it performed poorly in the elections held in for the Constituent Assembly of India.
